How can we order our antibody?

We require the name or whole amino acid sequence and origin (human, mouse, rat…) of the protein against which the antibody will be produced. Other necessary information: whether an antibody recognizing a target post-translational modification (e.g. phosphorylation) should be produced, or whether only a special part of the protein should be recognized; this should be given in detail.

How long does it take to obtain an antibody?

It takes 4-5 months from the day of the order. This time comprises an immunogenic peptide design, synthesis, conjugation with carrier protein, rabbit immunization, crude antiserum production, immunoglobulin purification, and in vitro cloning of IgGs from the affinity purified fraction.

Do we need the highest level (clone) of purity and specificity of an antibody for western blot?

Immunoaffinity purified immunoglobulins generally satisfy the needs for a specific western blot, if the chosen immunogenic peptide (corresponding epitopes) is unique to the target protein. There are special cases where the sequence of the immunogenic peptide is significantly homologous with other proteins, or often with the different isoforms of the target protein. In this case, in vitro cloning preparation of the isoform specific clone would be suggested.

Why do we need clonal antibodies?

Clonal antibodies will absolutely eliminate the cross-reaction with other proteins, therefore eliminating the reaction background. This is very important in quantitative diagnostics, or in the use of humanized clonal antibodies as a potential drug.

What is price of a clonal antibody?

Pure clones are in the price frame of commercially available polyclonal antibodies used for western blot, immunochemistry or ELISAs.

In brief, what are the advantages of using clonal antibodies?

High specificity, affinity, stability, and no background in any form of their application.

Are there any limits for ordered quantities of pure clones?

No, there are not limits in quantities. Each batch contains about 10mg of pure clone, and each batch is characterized by the same parameters describing affinity, avidity, and specificity.
